The season of waiting and wilderness  is inevitable in the life of every  child of God. We all walk through a  season where God seems to be hiding and withholding His intervention in our desperate situations. However, I would urge you all to rest assured that this  period holds a purpose that is far greater than what you may presently comprehend.

Although I have already blogged on this subject earlier , I feel compelled to share additional insights I have received on the purpose of this season. It is my prayer  that these revelations will uplift and inspire your soul during this season.

1.To Reveal His resurrection power– In John 12:24, Jesus said, verily, verily, I say to you unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies ,it abideth alone, but if it dies, it bringeth forth much fruit.

Just like the grain of wheat falls on the ground and dies, likewise may be you are feeling that  your  seed of prayer, tears, giving or sacrifices  is all dead as it  it hasn’t yielded any harvest yet . However, as we continue to persist in prayer and declare the promises that God has revealed to us in His Word, the new  season will surely come where we’ll see the resurrection power of God yielding  a much bigger harvest than we have ever imagined .

Ephesians 1:19 says,

The same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work in each of our lives and He will surely give the abundant harvest for the seeds we have been sowing.

In John 11:25 , Jesus said to Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die..

We the children of God have this assurance of God’s promise not just after our physical death but also during our earthly existence.

Just as spring arrives after the bleak fall and winter seasons where it seems impossible for lives to thrive, the resurrection power of Christ who is actively working in you and me will surely bring about a new season of  healing, restoration and abundance . The same Lord who has come through  in my life with ressurection power when I was in a wilderness season  will surely come through for you as well if  you continue to persevere and  hold on to your confession of faith.

Psalms 126:5-6 says, Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping,
carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.

Isaiah 61:7 says Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace
you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.

Keep rejoicing in your hope my friend. “Surely there is a future [and a reward], And your hope and expectation will not be cut off " says the Lord- Proverbs 23:18, Romans 12:12

God uses  our wilderness season for His glory – God never allows our wilderness season to go waste. He will surely use it for His glory and turn it into a blessing and  encouragement for many.

  •  King David wrote more than half of the book of Psalms mostly during his wilderness season. The book of Psalms  is one of the most read books in the Bible, as it encourages us , draws us closer to the Lord and lifts up our  soul when we are down .
  • Apostle Paul wrote nearly two-thirds of the books in the New Testament from a prison cell.It was during this trying period that God granted him deeper insights about our identity and inheritance as children of God. We are immensely  blessed and strengthened by the profound mysteries of God  that Apostle Paul has unfolded in these epistles under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
  • The  book of revelation was given by the Lord to Apostle John while he was alone on the island of Patmos. God used the lonely season of John’s life  to show  him the most glorious and profound revelation of the end days. Today the book of revelation is available to us because of Apostles John’s willingness to seek the Lord with all his heart during the most lonely and trying season of his life.

I am myself walking through another trying season even as I am posting this blog. However as I reflect on King David’s words in Psalms 18:32-46, I am reminded of God’s transformative work during adversity. Just as God trained David’s hands for battle, I too feel being spiritually equipped and trained for His glory. In the midst of my trials,He is empowering me to confront and conquer the adversities orchestrated by the enemy until they  are utterly destroyed and not able to rise up anymore . This is the divine process of preparation and empowerment that takes place in the midst of life’s battles.

“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised"- Hebrew 10:35-36.

Wow, Reena, how this post blessed my heart richly! What a Faithful and Mighty God we serve indeed. He stays near us in times of distress, and he uses what the enemy means for evil to refine, strengthen and equip us All the More as his end time warriors. We are so humbly privileged to be eternal recipients of Jesus’ Saving Grace and Mercy!
